Starrett Junior High School social studies teacher Steve Simpson headed up the food line at the school’s annual barbecue on Wednesday. Teachers and staff assisted the Lander Police Department, who cooked hot dogs and burgers for students.

A county board that formed last year to secure public funding for local social programs is offering financial help for emergency housing needs. The Fremont County Action Committee secured a Community Service Block Grant worth $9,000 through the state to provide people with help for utility and housing-related bills.

According to a report released by Sollie Cadman of the city’s Weed and Pest Department, Lander crews began spraying for the bugs on June 26.
